I am Sylvain St-Amand. For over three decades, I have had the privilege of working in international relations within three universities: McGill University, the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), and the University of Luxembourg. These years have allowed me to build a solid network of contacts in the academic community and within international organizations, primarily in Canada, China, and Europe. As Chair of the Board of Directors of the Global Centre of Excellence for Destinations (CED) for nearly ten years, and as an active member of the Canada China Business Council (CCBC), I continue to participate in the internationalization of higher education and intercultural dialogue. My experience and relationships can serve as a bridge for collaborations, exchanges of expertise, or joint initiatives.

The Global Centre of Excellence for Destinations (CED) was created at UQAM by visionary professors who sought to support the responsible development of the tourism industry. I have served on its board of directors since its inception and have held the position of Board Chair since 2017. Over the years, the CED's mission has progressively evolved to integrate sustainable development and biodiversity protection issues at the heart of its advisory services to destinations. This direction has notably enabled the CED to collaborate closely with the United Nations Secretariat for the biodiversity conference. The organization actively participated in COP 15 in Montreal and COP 16 in Cali, demonstrating its international commitment. The CED will be an important player at COP 17, which will be held in Yerevan, Armenia.
